My first works were abstract paintings: landscapes of sensations, emotions and imagination.

In 2013, life took me to Russia where I lived a few years. This experience was decisive. The Russian reality was so extraordinary that photography seemed to me the only possible medium. In Russia, some places appear frozen in time, as if one were living thirty or fifty years ago, or even further back. The urban and rural landscapes, and the people, are so distinctive that they sometimes seem unreal.

In searching for the Ducha, the Russian soul, I moved from documentary photography towards a more poetic representation. In The Dead Souls, a walk through a Russian cemetery, the place becomes a suspended space, somewhere between reality and imagination.

I found this distortion of time again in The Hunters, Lost in Time, a series devoted to hunting with hounds and the persistence of its centuries-old rituals within the contemporary landscape.

Over time, this poetic exploration has led me back towards abstraction. In Colors and Seascapes series,colors, forms and textures gradually take precedence over the representation of reality. Photography thus reconnects with my earliest explorations in painting: no longer simply showing what is there, but using reality as a starting point to seek a space of sensations and imagination.
